Calling all musicians and artists who are fellow baseball fans!
Let’s expose the fan injury scandal now!
Did you know that hundreds of baseball fans have left the ballpark on a stretcher bound for the hospital due to life-altering, dangerous foul balls slamming into their heads? Did you know a fan was killed by a foul ball at Dodger Stadium five years ago?
As baseball season gets underway this Spring, fans continue to be sitting ducks in far too many of the professional ballparks where safety netting is inadequate. MLB isn’t taking fan safety seriously, so we have to step up ourselves and use our resources and voices to fix this now.
I believe entertainers like you can really shine a light and help open minds to this issue.
Join me, Jordan Skopp, a fellow concerned baseball fan to draw attention to the ongoing foul ball fan injury crisis. Use your voice to educate fans about foul ball risks and to demand better for all of us!
How? It would be great if you could mention this campaign on stage, and generate some buzz at the Innings Festival this weekend! There’s no time like the present, right? Your band could help remind the audience of baseball fans that there’s work to be done to make the ballpark safe for everyone, especially young children.
I don’t think I should be the only one watching baseball feeling guilty. All fans of the game and everyone involved with it ought to feel ashamed that the foul ball fan injury crisis continues despite the availability of affordable solutions.
Yet, I’ve discovered at least 44 minor league ballparks that were still operating last season without netting beyond the dugouts. The situation in MLB Spring Training ballparks in Arizona and Florida is also inconsistent and continuing to put fans in harm’s way. I recently spoke with a woman who was hit in 2021 in Arizona by a foul ball that slammed into her stomach – she was 20 weeks pregnant at the time – luckily the baby was ok, but that scenario should never even be possible these days.
MLB pays the players coming up through the minor leagues. They should be compelled to pay for the netting expansions immediately!
I’ve put in a huge amount of time and invested six figures so far in this journey over the past four years. But I’m just one fan – I need your help to spread the word!
Thanks,
Jordan Skopp
